Sean McCabe

Sean is a young prodigy hailing from south Wales who proved his mettle as a DJ / Producer with a juicy slice of hot buttered, soulful house A Little More Love featuring Adeola Ranson. At the age of 26, Sean has not only already produced and remixed for the prestigious King Street Sounds, Strictly Rhythm, Soul Heaven, and Z Records, but he has also played at the Soul Heaven’s 10th Anniversary at the Ministry of Sound and twice at the highly respected festival Southport Weekender.
A remix discography that includes artists such as Donae’o, Dennis Ferrer, Quentin Harris, Stephanie Cooke, Todd Terry and Barbara Tucker to name a few; Sean’s talents have attracted the attention of many music luminaries including the likes of Tony Humphries, Joey Negro, Phil Asher, and John Morales.
In 2011 Sean also had the honour of compiling and mixing the 2nd in King Street Sound’s new mix series titled ‘A Soulful House Journey’ which saw big support and reviews from the likes of Billboard mag, Tillate mag, Hippie Torales, Tony Humphries, Groove Assassin, and The UDM Show.
It was in 2002 that Sean’s production ability was first noticed; having teamed up with Justin Stride (Black Sonix) and Phil Evans, Sean was swiftly inducted into the Southern Divide production team which went on to found the Mountain Records label, aided and guided by Alex Winter, Dave Jones and ‘Galaxy / Vibe FM’ legend Deli-G.
Barely old enough to consider entering a nightclub, releases on Mountain, Device Records, Soulfuric Deep and Fluential put Sean in the music industry spotlight and fuelled his passion for music that we now see coming further to fruition.
Charting his ‘mentor’ Deli G and Danny Rampling’s Love Groove Dance Party as inspirations, you can see the rich knowledge that Sean has acquired over the years, developing a musical palette far beyond his years. Artists such as Karizma, Louie Vega and Tony Humphries have provided McCabe with the desire to replicate his hero’s not only in the studio, but also in the DJ booth.

Osunlade - Yoruba Soul

Not everyone understands house music, it's a spiritual thing, a body thing, a soul thing. Nobody personifies the spirituality and soul of house music like Osunlade. An artist in the truest sense, he balances melodies with life and wisdom in a unique, organic production style. Best seen through his Yoruba Records vision and on seminal labels like Strictly Rhythm and Soul Jazz, his approach has also enticed the likes of MAW, Zero 7 and 4hero all seeking his natural remix touch.

Artist of the year: Black Coffee

Durban-born Nkosinathi Maphumulo has been on the music scene for over a decade but only got his break a few years ago.

Nkosinathi, otherwise known as Black Coffee, is popular for his hit remixes, most of which have enjoyed prominence on the airwaves in the past couple of years.

A DJ and producer, he forged his musical background through his school choir and by studying the keyboard. He studied music because he felt that as a producer, he had to deepen his overall musical knowledge, develop his listening skills and advance his knowledge of music theory.

Black Coffee, who is also a member of the group Shana, believes that being a DJ requires extensive research particularly when it comes to knowing the latest trends on the DJing scene. Who helped him achieve his goals? “There was no one in particular who really put me in the mainstream," he says. "Everything I have done on my own thus far has paved my way.”

2010 releases:

Black Coffee ft. Tsepo - Never saw you coming (Seasons Limited)
Black Coffee ft. Zakes Bantwini - Juju (CityDeep)
Black Coffee feat. Thiwe - Crazy (Foliage Records)
Black Coffee - Gardens of Eden (feat. Zonke)/Trip to Lyon (GOGO Music)
Black Coffee feat. Bucie - Superman (Jellybean Soul)
